Building a Strong Financial House

Building a Strong
Financial House
13-Lesson Class with Craig Hill
In order to build a strong financial house, it is critical to build in the proper sequence.

When constructing a house…
  • First, the foundation is laid.
  • Then the framing, electrical and plumbing are installed.
  • Finally, the walls can be drywalled and finished, and the outside can be finished.
Getting things out of sequence can create all sorts of problems.

Imagine trying to install electrical or plumbing into walls that are already sealed and painted.

Many people struggle in their financial life simply because they never have learned strong Biblical principles about money and end up doing the exact opposite of the principles they don’t even know about!

God wants you to fulfill the vision He has given you.

Building a Strong Financial House

Lesson 1: Build a Solid Foundation
When building a physical house to live in, it is impossible to install critical systems such as plumbing and electrical before pouring the foundation for the building to sit on. This is not only true with construction, but also with your finances. Unless you have a foundation of strong financial principles to build upon in proper sequence, your financial house cannot function properly! In this lesson you will learn what these Biblical financial principles are, and how you can implement them to create a solid foundation to build upon.
Lesson 2: Seek Vision, Not Provision
Do you work in your chosen field because you have a vision you are pursuing, or because you’re pursuing the income that the field brings with it? In this lesson, Craig teaches the principle that is critical to understand when it comes to your finances: provision follows vision, not the other way around!

Lesson 3: Ten Symptoms of the Spirit of Mammon
How can you tell if you are really pursuing vision or provision? In this session, Craig helps you answer that question by giving ten symptoms that are indicators of the Spirit of Mammon prevailing in your finances. Once you are aware of these symptoms, you will be one step closer to replacing the lies with God’s truth and walking with the peace He wants you to have in your finances.
Lesson 4: Channels vs. The Source
Many Christians struggle to believe in their hearts that God, not their employer, is their provider. In these people, the fear that the Spirit of Mammon plants becomes all too evident when something like a business closing or being let go from a company happens. God never intended for us to be fearful when this sort of thing happens, but the enemy of our souls absolutely loves us to get caught up in the trap of fear. In this lesson, you will learn what God says about being your provider and how you can peace in your heart when the channel of provision changes in your life.
Lesson 5: Understanding Wealth and Money
What is the difference between “wealth” and “money”? Many people treat these words as interchangeable, but in reality there is a huge difference between the two. In this session, you will learn what the Bible says about this difference and why it is critical to understand the distinction between the two as you manage your finances.

Lesson 6: Learn to Manage Money
What systems to you have in place to manage the money that God places in your life? Many people have never learned how to be proper stewards or have learned to steward their finances poorly. How can this be changed going forward? In this lesson, Craig teaches core concepts about stewarding your finances and controlling them rather than allowing them to control you.
Lesson 7: Close the Open Circle
If you had to answer the question “how much money do you need to live on,” would you be able to answer with certainty about what was too much or too little? One of the most important principles to adhere to as a steward is to have a budget for the money you manage. In this session you will learn Craig’s simple strategy to create a budget, set financial boundaries, and make your money serve your vision.
Lesson 8: Sowing and Reaping
As you learn to manage money properly, it’s important to note that not all of what you receive is supposed to be budgeted into a spending account. Being a steward means you need to distinguish what money is “holy” and what money is “common” and treat each accordingly. How exactly do you do that? Craig teaches about the Biblical difference between “holy” and “common” money in this session and explains how this applies to your finances today.

Lesson 9: Manage the Lord’s Tithe
Most Christians have been taught about the Biblical principle of tithing, yet many struggle to adhere to the principle as the tangible pressures of life strain their finances. Even if the desire exists to give the tithe, the fear of financial deficit can easily keep a person from giving it with a free heart. Many do not stop to consider that the tithe is not supposed to be the “good Christian bill” that gets paid to the church, but actually serves as a practical purpose in your life and relationship with the Lord. In this lesson, Craig teaches specifically about what the Bible says about the tithe and what purposes God wants it to accomplish in your finances.
Lesson 10: Eliminate Your Debt
Do you believe that it normal and unavoidable to have financial debt in your life? Most people today truly do believe it is and go through life with the pressure to repay their mortgage, credit card bills, or other debt or face the undesirable consequences. In this lesson you will learn what God’s attitude towards debt is, and why being indebted is not something He ever intended for us.
Lesson 11: Wealth Transfer Equation
Carrying debt has different risks involved besides the constant worry of making monthly payments or facing the normal collection consequences if you default. Historically, there is a drastic transfer of wealth during an economic shaking, and it usually catches people who are on the wrong side of the wealth transfer equation completely by surprise. How do you know which side of the equation you are on, and change sides if you don’t like where you are? In this lesson Craig explains what the wealth transfer equation is and how you can posture yourself to be on the right side of the equation when it happens.

Lesson 12: How to Get Rid of Debt
People who are in debt are typically not pleased to be there, and if they serve God are even less pleased when they are convicted of the bondage they are in. The Spirit of Mammon wants them to believe they are trapped and that it is hopeless to escape their predicament, which is the complete opposite of what God wants to make happen. How can you break the hold that the Spirit of Mammon has and get rid of your debt? In this lesson, you will learn practical steps to take that will place your trust back in the Lord and allow Him to work supernaturally through you to eliminate your debt.
Lesson 13: Learn How to Multiply
In the final lesson of this course, you will learn how God not only gives you what you need through direct provision, but desires to multiply what you already have. The key factor for this is He needs something to multiply for this to happen! If you apply the financial principles you have learned in this course, you can give God something to work with in your finances and prepare the way for the multiplication He wants to deposit in your life!
